香港岭南大学翻译系本科课程设置

    作为香港设有翻译系的两所大学之一,岭南大学在翻译学方面实力雄厚,且颇有成就,招收翻译学本科、硕士、博士研究生。下面是翻译本科专业的课程设置:

Major in Translation

The total number of credits necessary for graduation is 90.

Students majoring in Translation are required to take, during their three-year programme, courses equivalent to 9 credits from the following:

TRA222 Business Translation (C-E)
TRA301 Advanced Interpreting (C-E)
TRA305 Literary Translation B (C-E)
TRA318 Translation Projet (E-C and C-E)*

TRA322 Selected Translation Project (C-E)

 

* Only 3 credits from this course will count towards the 9 credits.

 

Required Courses (33 credits)

Students are required to take all of the following courses (33 credits).

Students are required to take at least 9 credits of courses from the following. Extra credits taken may be counted as students' Electives. No fewer than 6 credits in guided electives should be taken in the second year.

Electives (15 credits)

Students must select at least 15 credits of Elective Courses. This may include credits gained from completing courses in the Guided Elective list, which courses have not already been taken by students as their Guided Electives.

Free Electives (12 credits)

Student may select courses in any disciplines to obtain the total number of credits required for graduation, subject to timetable, course load and study scheme constraints. Among these free elective credits, at least six should be obtained from courses outside their own study programmes. Courses offered to students in a term as free electives will be indicated in the Class Schedule for that term distributed before course enrolment.

 

Language Enhancement Courses (12 credits)

Students are required to take a total of 4 Language enhancement courses. Of these courses, LCC101 Practical Chinese I and ENG110 Models of Speech and Writing must be taken in Year 1. In Year 2, a second English course must be taken from the list of English Enhancement courses. If the grade of the second English course is C+ or below, the fourth course must be an additional English course from the same list; if the grade of the second English course is B- or above, the fourth course may be either an English course or a Chinese course.
