ntyuchchhrita nti-ncha chailjina-kuhottaram
选择(pratihhpya)清静(huchau)的地方(dehe),安置他自己的(tmana)座位(sanam),座位稳固(sthiram),也(ati)
不(na)高(uchchhrita)也(ati)不(na)低(ncha),铺上(uttaram)布(chaila)、皮(ajina)和拘舍草(kuha)。

upavihysane yuñjyd yogam tma-vihuddhaye
控制(yata)心意(chitta)和感官(indriya)活动(kriya),随后(tatra)使(kitv)心意(mana)集中一(eka)点(agra),
坐上(upavihy)座位(sane)进行(yuñjyd)瑜伽修行(yogam),以求心(tma)纯净(vihuddhaye)。

身(kya)头(hira)颈(grva)竖直(sama),保持(dhrayann)不动(achala)静止(sthira),凝视(samprekhya)自己的(sva)鼻(nsika)尖(agra),和(cha)不张望(anavalokayan)各个方向(dihah)。

mana sanyamya mach-chitto yukta sta mat-para
宁静的(prahnta)自我(tm)无所恐惧(vigata-bhr),恪守(sthita)独身的誓言(brahmachri-vrate),控制(sanyamya)心念(mana),将心意集中于(chitta)我(mat),真正的瑜伽师(yukta)应当把(sta)把我(mat)奎师那作为终极目标(para)。

hanti nirva-param mat-sansthm adhigachchhati
瑜伽士(yog)如此(eva)不断地(sad)修习(yuñjann)心(tmna),以自律的心意(niyata-mnasa),达到(adhigachchhati)平静(hanti),以自我为归宿(mat-sansthm),以涅槃(nirva)为最高(param)目标。

na chti-svapna-hlasya jgrato naiva chrjuna
瑜伽士(yoga)不(na)能吃的(ahnatastu)太多(ati),也(cha)不(na)能有(asti)过度(ekntam)节食(anahnata),也(cha)不(na)能睡得(svapna-hlasya)太多(ati),和(cha)不(na)能永远(eva)睡(jgrato),阿周那(arjuna)啊。

yukthra-vihrasya yukta-chehasya karmasu
yukta-svapnvabodhasya yogo bhavati dukha-h
有节制的(yukta)饮食(hra)娱乐(vihrasya),规律的(yukta)工作(chehasya)与履行责任(karmasu),
控制(yukta)睡眠与(svapna)清醒,(avabodhasya)瑜伽的修行(yoga)成为(bhavati)减少痛苦(dukha-h)的方法。

nispiha sarva-kmebhyo yukta ityuchyate tad
当(yad)完全控制(viniyata)心念(chittam),肯定(eva)处于(avatihhate)自我(tmanI),不渴求(nispiha)所有(sarva)物质感官满足(kmebhya),这样(itI)在那时(tad)可谓(uchyate)稳定地处于瑜伽之中(yukta)。
