Sitting in a café is one of the main activities in London. It’s what Londoner do instead of working or sleeping even not in weekend. They have a natural talent for it, the way Chinese are good at playing card or mal-jongg. The engine of life always slow down in a café, as if a car’s gear get down from second to first, even stop. You will get a bitter coffee with a better short peaceful life.

Drinking coffee is both a culture and a fashion in UK. Coffee means to Londoner what tea means to Chinese, and even more. It is in every café or on every café terrace that everyone meets to discuss art, theatre, music, Mr. Blair and the pressing matters of the day. In a classic London café, there are many kinds of good food. What you are supposed to do is relax and enjoy every bite. Generally London cafés are divided into two areas: inside section and outside plot. Everybody can choose where he or she want to drink coffee. People drinking outside are usually decently-dressed and fashionably-poised. The outside plot becomes a platform for them to enjoy coffee, sunshine and comfortable life. The chairs in cafes are lined up in rows, facing outward, toward the stage of others’ lives on streets. Everyone will get his or her show time. They all say: here, look at me, I am struggling for my life or I must kiss my boss’s ass today.

One sunny day, my big brother and I bought two tall cups of cappuccino in Starbucks and sat outside, enjoy sunshine, looking everyone past through on street. Most people walk idly with music from IPOD, and dresses in big pants which are so big that you can see their underpants are CALVIN KLEIN and the pants must be held by their owner in order not to slide down. I ask brother why they are so weird of their dressing. He told me God know why they always show their underpants, however, he do know the reason why they are so slow whatever they do is avoiding sliding cloth down and showing all things. They must hold the pants with one hand and turn on their IPOD with other hand. After long walk, they will so exhausted that can only do nothing.

The businessman sitting beside me was well dressed without laptop computer around him. I wondered why he not try to achieve any business information at this café advertised WIFI. In China, every metropolises use the café or KFC as a broadband platform for accomplishment. My big brothers said why try to. In UK, they can use BLUEBERRY cell phone to receive their important E-Mails with 3G, which is much more useful than WIFI. If the prices of his shocks suddenly fly up to paradise or his copartners jump down from skyscraper, he will get the information at the first time. What he will to do is drink his espresso and do nothing.
