Dear Primary 1 Parents, 

Last week was another exciting one in PYP, as we concluded our learning about taking care of our bodies with an interesting session of First Aide with Nurse Vanessa.  She captured the attention of all, and we hope your son or daughter has shared with you the interesting things they have learned.  As well, your child has the knowledge of making healthy food choices by using the food pyramid for guidance.  

上星期，我们与护士VANESSA一起用一个有趣的课程，结束了如何照顾自己的身体这个章节。她把所有孩子的注意力都吸引了，我们希望你的孩子与你们一起分享他们所学到的有趣东西，同时你的孩子知道如何挑选有营养的食物用“食物金字塔”做引导。

We are beginning our fourth line of inquiry about responsibility in the classroom, entire school and at home.  The studentswill clearly define their roles and responsibilities in the classroom, school, and at home.  They will demonstrate their ability to make right choices and how this affects others in school, at home and in the community. 

 我们开始的第四个探究是关于在教室，整个学校以及家里的责任。 学生们将会清楚的区分他们呢在教室里，学校以及家里的角色以及责任。他们将演示他们的能力去做准确的选择，以及是如何在学校，家里以及社区中影响其他人，

From Chinese perspective, students will learn a story《橡皮膏小熊》which tells them how to be responsible in the classroom and be responsible for themselves. They will also learn the key words about their main duties as a student at school, as a child at home and as a small citizen in the community.

 从中文角度说，学生将学校《橡皮膏小熊》的故事，将告诉孩子如何在课堂上，以及对他们自己负责。 他们将学习一些核心词汇——作为学生在学校里，在家里，以及在社会中的小公民的义务。

Our question to you is:

对家长的问题如下：

What is your child’s role in the community and at home? Does your child have

any jobs or chores that they are responsible to do daily/weekly?

你孩子在社会中以及在家中的角色是什么? 每天或每星期，你孩子有否应该负责的工作或家务？

Please take this week to discuss these questions.

We have begun to give homework beginning this week.  It will be

the responsibility of your child to write/record the homework in the

communication book.  It will be your job to check to see what they have written

down and ensure they complete the homework.  If there is a problem and they

can not finish within allotted time, kindly write a note in the communication book.  Thanks for your help with these responsibilities. 

 从本星期开始，我们有家庭作业了。 你孩子应该完成的家庭作业记录在练习本上。 你需要检查他们写的是什么，保证他们将家庭作业完成。 如果有让孩子在规定的时间内没有完成作业的问题，请在联系本中注明。

This week in Language Arts, we will continue consonant blends and our language experience books as well as reading on Fridays.

 在语言上，我们将继续学习辅音。

In Math, we were able to get a good start at telling time.  We suggest that the children continue to practice at home.

在数学上，是关于时间的。

Reminders

1.  International Day is October 22.  We welcome your attendance as there will     

     be an exciting  program that includes performances from Kindergarten     

     to P6.

International Day Information:

P1’s will be dancing “Waka Waka” the theme song of the FIFA World Cup 2010.

 1年级将跳"WAKA WAKA"2010年世界杯的主题歌。

Waka Waka are words in the Cameroon language called Fang.  It translates to Do it/Get the task done in English. The relevance of the words Waka Waka to football is that the game is often synonymous with doing battle. This historic 19th FIFA World Cup is also a victory for the African Continent since it is the first time in the history of the tournament that the games were held on African soil, hence the words This Time For Africa.

WAKA WAKA是喀麦隆语言，翻译成英语是 做/把任务做好。这个词与足球的关联含义，是游戏与战斗同义。 19届世界杯的历史意义是在非洲大陆上第一次举办。这词还有的含义是，这是非洲的时刻。

This song represents unity within the teams in order to ‘Do it!’ or Get the task done!’  

P1 will also perform a Chinese song titled with “Singing with smile”. We will practice the song during some homeroom periods.     

 P1还要表演一首中文歌，是“带着微笑唱歌”。我们在教室里会练习这首歌。

We suggest that all P1 students dress in their Country’s national clothing.  If this is not possible, please have the child wear clothing with the colors of their county. 

我们建议所以的P1学生都穿民族服装。如果不可能，请穿他们国家颜色的服装。

We will be sending out more information with more details by the end of the week.  However, we welcome any questions that you may have.  

This week P1 will begin to practice our dance.

2.  Aaro’s birthday will be celebrated during PYP time on Tuesday, Oct. 12.、

3.  We have 3 birthdays to celebrate on 19Oct. - Nathan, Coco, and Makoh.        我们有三个生日在10月19日，分别是NATHAN, COCO.以及MAKOH.
