前年世界儿童图书日，为了提高孩子们的阅读兴趣，我将国外网站有关世界儿童图书日的材料进行了选编编进了学校进行的期中考试题目中，学生开玩笑说一看阅读内容就知道是我出的题，因为我经常唠叨阅读的重要性。去年此时写过一篇随笔《写在世界儿童读书日之际和世界阅读日来临之前》，那时还没有开始写博客。今天又是世界儿童图书日，本想动笔写点东西，但这两天因帮助准备高三时间讲评课忙的不亦乐乎。今天下午总算顺利结束，听着教研员徐老师年轻老师的评价，心里感到轻松了许多。上网查阅，看到今年的主题(theme)是"Bookjoy arond the world"，立马就喜欢上了它。正如下文所说的“每天给你的孩子大声朗读15分钟，就会对你的孩子成为一个终身读者起着重要的作用”。

 

年轻的父母，无论多忙，为了您的孩子，也为了您的未来，每天抽出15分钟来，为孩子们大声读书吧！

Question: What Is International Children's Book Day?

Answer: International Children's Book Day is an annual event, which is held on around April 2, the birth date of Hans Christian Andersen. Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.

It is sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). According to the IBBY Web site, "International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books."  Each year a different National Section of IBBY has the opportunity to be the international sponsor of ICBD. It decides upon a theme and invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world and a well-known illustrator to design a poster. These materials are used in different ways to promote books and reading. Many IBBY Sections promote ICBD through the media and organize activities in schools and public libraries. Often ICBD is linked to celebrations around children's books and other special events that may include encounters with authors and illustrators, writing competitions or announcements of book awards.

 

This year, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) announced that the 2013  theme is "Bookjoy around the World."

 

To celebrate and inspire the love of reading with your students, visit the International Children's Digital Library to gain access to a variety of books from many different cultures. You can also have students partake in activities that incorporate other cultures such as:

Reading stories from across the globe and discussing their culture

Inviting local authors to visit your school

Inviting exchange students to visit your classroom and read a book from their homeland.

 

1. There are reliable studies that confirm the importance of reading aloud and of SSR (Sustained Silent Reading).

2. As little as fifteen minutes a day in reading aloud to your children can have a significant effect on their becoming lifelong readers.

3.    When you read aloud to your children, they gain both "background knowledge" and a richer vocabulary.

4.    Your child's listening level is not the same as his/her reading level.

5.    It's important to read aloud to your children individually, as their interests and maturity levels may vary.

6.    You children will benefit from your reading aloud to them from the time they are babies up into their teens.

7.    To help your children become readers, supply books, a book basket in the location where it is most likely to be used, and a bed lamp.

8.    Far more boys than girls end up in remedial reading; fathers pay a key role in encouraging reading through reading for pleasure themselves and reading aloud to their children.

9.    Studies show children benefit from recreational "lite" reading of series and comic books.

10. Libraries can learn from the mega-bookstores and Oprah how to "sell" books and reading to students.

节日的起源与发展

世界儿童图书日，又叫“国际儿童图书日”是国际少年儿童读物联盟（ IBBY ）发起的，定在每年的4月2日。这一天也是丹麦儿童文学大师安徒生的生日，每年的4月2日，他都会在全球无数小朋友的阅读中重生。

国际儿童读物联盟目前有70个国家分会，每年选定一个国家分会主办“国际儿童图书日”，由其确定当年的主题并邀请本国一位杰出的作家为全世界儿童写一篇短文，一位著名的插图画家设计海报。它们将被以不同的方式用于推广书图和促进阅读。许多国家分会还通过媒体和在学校及公共图书馆组织活动的方式来宣传国际儿童图书日。通常国际儿童图书日还与各种儿童图书庆祝活动以及与作家和插图画家见面、作文竞赛或公布图书奖等活动联系在一起。
