在Getty Museum, 我拍下了梵高的Irises. 这是梵高在结束他37岁生命之前不久的作品。梵高在自杀(1890)前的那一年，住进了位于法国Saint-Rémy的一家收容所。在那里，他画了花园里的这些鸢尾花。 画中的每一朵花，每一片叶子，从姿态到颜色，都各不相同。那些柔弱而精致的花瓣，展现出微风吹过微微颤抖的表情。从我刚刚接触到梵高开始，这幅Irises就是我最喜欢的梵高作品之一。在那幅画前，我停留了很久，试图把每一笔都记在心里。

因为最近对摄影着迷，看自己以前拍的照片的时候发现了这张Irises. 我惊讶于它的构图：这幅画不象其它大部分作品那样，把主体放在中心，或黄金分割的部位。而是让花和叶子充斥了整个画面，好像是用了相机的zoom,把镜头拉近了，用了Macro。近处的花瓣颜色稍稍深于远处的，叶子和花瓣边缘清晰，稍远的花和叶子边缘模糊。我可以想象，梵高的眼睛zoom in 到了每一个花瓣，仔细研究它们在风中的动态，然后极力在画中表现这些细节。

梵高的画中，Starry Night也是我喜欢的. 曾经专门去MoMA看了真迹，可惜没有拍下来。

据说梵高的这幅画是凭着记忆来画的，而不是实景的写生，于是有人指出天空中漩涡般的云彩是梵高在生命的最后时期的unstable/twisted mind and confusion的展现。在他后期的作品中类似的brushstrock是很常见的。

也是因为这幅画，我喜欢Don McLean的那首叫做Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) 的歌。一并放在blog里面，作为背景音乐。

在梵高其它的作品里，我personally比较喜欢还有他的一些portraits, 尤其是self-portraits. 他一生画过39张自画像(4 of them are drawings).

这是梵高生命中的最后一幅画， Wheat Field With Crows. 对于这幅画的争论很多：Dead end path simbolized the termination of his life? Stormy sky reflected his confused mind? crows forboded death?

梵高在他有生之年只卖出过一幅画。
