读英国作家吉辛的日记体自传《四季随笔》，The Private Papers of Henry Ryecroft。

吉辛的文笔真好，娓娓道来，典型的英国小品文风格。我读得很慢，有时有点吃力，却爽心悦目。今日读到他说，“I am made for the life of tranquility and meditation. I know that only thus can such virtue as I possess find scope。”

“我为清寂与冥想而生，唯此才能发挥所长。”

真乃知音也。
