Dear Schlossins,

  I had been busy getting ready for the Senior High School Entrance Examination until I finished it the day before yesterday. So I’m glad that I have time to write to you now.

  First something about the time, I’ll set out to Phoenix on Aug. 10^th and will arrive there on the same day. Then I’ll spend the next three days there and will leave for Dallas on Aug. 13^th. That will be the day we meet and I’m quite looking forward to that.

  Also, Sammy, did you go to local school or teach yourself when you were in China ? Your Chinese is pretty good! Is life here interesting? Please write to me if you’re not busy.

  I didn’t have the luck to hear Olivia or Mr. and Mrs. Schlossin’s voice on the phone last time, but I really hope to talk to you all. Olivia must be very cute, and may I have a look at your photos please?

    前段时间我一直忙于备战中考，直到前天考完才轻松下来，现在我很开心我可以与你们通信了。

    关于时间安排，我8月10日出发，当天抵达凤凰城，3天后向达拉斯进发，到时候我们就能见面了，我很盼望的！

    对了， Sammy ，你在中国的时候在当地上学还是自学成才？你的中文真的好棒哦！这里的生活有趣吗？如果有时间，请给我回信吧！

    上次我未能有幸跟 Olivia 还有 Schlossin 先生、 Schlossin 太太交谈，其实我是非常希望能和你们大家聊聊的啊。 Olivia 一定非常可爱吧，我可以看看你们的照片吗？

家庭的回信

Dear Ruohon:

It was so nice to hear from you! I apologize for my delay in responding to your email. I have been a student this past year also. I will be graduating from my program in July so I have been very busy these past few weeks. Congratulations on finishing your high school entrance exams - I hope everything went well for you.

 I have attached a letter from our family to you and your parents. You might be receiving a copy of the letter from the exchange student organization as they required us to send a copy of the letter to their office. We are excited to meet you and we are looking forward to many fun experiences this next school year. Please know that although the transition to American life will probably be strange and unfamiliar at first, we are here to help and assist you in any way we can. We also want your parents to know that we take the responsibility of host family very seriously and will treat you as if you were our own daughter. We understand that they may be feeling anxious about their only child being away from them for almost one year!

Please do not be worried or afraid about our dogs. They are very small (approx. 2 kg) and the other one stays outside and although he is large, he is a big baby and would never bite or jump. We will be very patient and you can take your time getting to know them.

    很高兴收到你的来信。很抱歉回信晚了。我这一年也在攻读，将在七月份结业，所以最近这几周特别忙。祝贺你完成了初中升学考试，希望你一切顺利。

    我附了一封信给你和你的家人，你可能从交换生机构的材料中看到这封信了，他们要求我们给他们提供信的拷贝件。

    我们非常期待见到你，盼望将要跟你一同度过这一年的快乐时光。希望你知道，尽管在美生活方式的变化会让你感到奇特和陌生，但我们会尽全力给你帮助。我们也希望告诉你父母，我们会认真承担寄宿家庭的责任，并会对你像对我们自己的亲生女儿一样。我们非常理解，你的父母对于他们唯一的女儿要跟他们离别近一年之久的那种焦虑。

    请别对我们家的狗感到担心和害怕，它们非常小（还不到2公斤），还有一只大的在外面，它尽管身材大，但还是只小狗，从来不咬人和扑人。我们会很耐心地让你逐渐熟悉它们。
