在国内听英文有声书不容易，免费优质资源尤其贫乏。过去在网易云音乐上还有人上传一些不错的作品，例如Gone Girl（消失的爱人），后来果然消失了……现在喜马拉雅等国内有声书站点满目都是假英语，也就是“英语爱好者”自嗨罢了，没意思。

最近好不容易在喜马拉雅找到George Orwell的1984朗读版——这部经典本来就沉重，加上录音有年头了，很不清晰，要听懂相当不容易，我经常听着听着就走神了。

如果你热爱文艺，又找不到合适的有声书，不妨听听BBC Radio 4 Extra。不喜欢时事新闻、人物访谈的朋友也可以看过来。这个英文电台播放相声、广播剧为主，文艺范十足，尽管节目内容多为3年前的节目存档录音，或者是其他台播过的“炒冷饭”。

作为电台新秀，4 Extra放弃了传统的无线电波，所以抱个收音机跑到英国也是听不到的。在国内连不上TuneIn，用手机上的“每日英语听力”app上就能流畅收听。用Bing搜一下这个台能找出来不少流媒体网站，例如radio点net，在PC上也能听。

可随时切入的电台广播

2002年开播的时候，4 Extra在BBC兄弟中排行老7，2010年时一度成为BBC Radio家族中第2多听众的频道。2011年以后降格为Radio 4的副台，很多节目就是4台的衍生物，例如经典广播剧The Archer的青春版Ambridge Extra。

3月份的时候，4 Extra在每晚630黄金时段开播陀思妥耶夫斯基名著改编的广播剧《白痴》，每集半小时，一个星期不到就播完了。我经常是一边切菜剁肉一边听，中间还能腾出手来查查生词——同是名著，1984我啥都不干专心听也没查到多少词汇，但分角色的Idiot就能听查斩获不少生词。英国人的听书品味还挺高，老陀的作品我读过《罪与罚》，有些高深的样子，但Idiot的广播剧却很生活化，文学名著彻底口语化之后，比很多名著朗读版更容易听懂。

有的听众追求完整收听，不是从头开始就难受。其实只要听力理解过得去，中途切入也能很快跟上剧情，就像好的电视剧在任何一集都善于抓住观众。在有声书点播变得方便的年代，仍然有听众死守文艺广播台，原因大概在此。当然，国内信息闭塞，我们能听到4 Extra已经不错，应常怀感恩的心。

早上开车出门，我戴上降噪耳机听侦探小说改编的广播剧，虽然是episode 4，但一上来就是女生喘着粗气喊let me out，马上就进入状态了：这是绑架还是S奴？还得主动放慢点车速，以免注意力分散追尾……

人人都爱听故事，长大了仍旧如此。这个年代节奏太快，静下心来看个电影都抽不出时间——我就纳闷：抖音快手那些粗制滥造的短视频，难道比精心制作的大电影还好看？原来，大部分人的时间和精力只够刷短视频了。

4 Extra给了你一个额外的选项，可以一边干活一边听故事。它就像水龙头，拧开哗哗地流，随意取用，连不连Wi-Fi都不差那点流量，漫不经心地听，也可以随时中断。相比之下，提前缓存下载好的B站资源、喜马拉雅有声书之类我会安排整段时间更认真地听，就是不想错过其中的一部分。

广播剧以外还有问答比赛

4 Extra一度衍生出儿童节目 CBeebies Radio，老婆孩子的大爱，但现在4 Extra的儿童节目大幅度缩减，听了几个月貌似没听到过什么童话或儿歌。倒是近年来4 Extra新增不少教育、文化类访谈节目，例如某本小说的读书会，找人朗读几段，再找位书评人海侃一段。这搞得一些文艺听众越听越闷，戏称Radio Bore(4)。

晚上经常听到4 Extra搞问答比赛，给几位参赛者的问题多为某首歌是谁作的，某个戏剧又如何，放一段音乐问是啥。有一次问英语中dw开头的单词只有3个，dwarf、dwell，第3个是啥？结果一个市场营销专业的大学生瞬间就想出dwindle（我查了词典确实如此，这3个dw词以外的都不是正规英语词汇）。

换我上场就只能吃鸭蛋了，但参赛者都有两下子，连蒙带猜答对不少。不过有些题我还是懂一点的，例如有一次问美国政治术语GOP是啥？我经常读雅虎新闻，晓得那是共和党，但要让我说出Grand Old Party估计要卡壳。长期在生活中用英语，你的英语阅历也可以接近英语母语人士哦。

还有一次问的是中国2013年启动的超级大项目，结果高材生们每一个能答出Belt and Road Initiative。这答案是你我都秒懂的，但会不会用英文表达呢？电台不是电视，通常不会出选择题的哦。

夸张的英语容易捕捉到词汇

4 Extra这种风格的电台很适合晚上躺着听，特别适合不喜欢时政新闻，又不喜欢听歌的失眠患者。深夜听光怪陆离的故事，看着路上汽车投到墙上光怪陆离的光影（现在住小区内的高楼才没有了），有些迷幻。BBC的4 Extra和Radio 1（另类音乐台）这种台特别擅长制造强烈的英伦迷幻。

广播剧的声优讲话比普通人有更多的抑扬顿挫，换言之更夸张、更矫揉造作，如果你还意识不到，转台到BBC World Service就明白了，新闻节目主持人讲英语会端庄、郑重一些，当然，还是比街头接受采访的吃瓜群众又神气活现一点儿。

夸张的表达更具辨析度，更容易听懂，更不容易走神。我听4 Extra听到的是百花齐放，而不是有声书朗读的单一声优，所以对具体的演员并没有太多了解，也没必要，因为能上4 Extra的声优口才都差不多。这跟我们看一部电影一样，一眼看上去演技都差不多。听电台广播剧只闻其声，千人千面，能记住一个特别的声音，比记住一张脸和身材更不容易。

利用4 Extra的夸张英语，用手机听4 Extra的时候开欧路、有道词典查生词成功率比较高。就算只能查到一小部分，也会有不少收获——听真英语的理解能力，是跟个人词汇量直接挂钩的。
