（1）选定研究问题（identifying a problem），问题领域，具体问题。

（2）建立研究假设（constructing research hypothesis）,归纳与演绎，预测研究的可能结果，对研究问题中的所有的相关概念之间的关系，予以推测或假设。

（3）选定并标明变量（identifying and labeling variables），自变量、因变量、控制变量、中介变量等。

（4）建构操作性的定义（constructing operational definitions），利用可观察与可度量的形式去叙述有关的变量，使这些变量能够操纵、控制与检验。

（5）操纵与控制变量（manipulating and controlling variables）,探讨变量之间关系 。

（6）拟定研究设计（constructing a research design），将在某些特定的条件下检定一个假设所需要的各项步骤，详细地指示并陈列出来。

（7）选定并建立观察与测量的方法（identifying and constructing devices for observation and measurement）。

（8）设计问卷与访谈表（constructing questionnaires and interview schedules），注意问卷的有效性。

（9）进行统计分析（carrying out statistics analysis）,统计软件SPSS、AMOS等 。

（10）撰写研究报告（writing a research report），将研究结果写成报告。
