Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Meets Chinese AIDS Activist Dr. Gao Yaojie

Washington, DC - On March 14, Senator Clinton met with Dr. Gao Yaojie, a retired physician and AIDS activist from Henan Province in China. Dr. Gao was in Washington, DC to accept an award from the Vital Voices Global Partnership. Senator Clinton, an Honorary Co-Chair of Vital Voices, was instrumental in persuading the Chinese government to allow Dr. Gao to travel to the United States and receive this award. This visit marks the first time that Dr. Gao has traveled outside of China to share her experiences in provide care, treatment, education and support to individuals living with HIV and AIDS.
