明天要为克拉玛依的英语老师做两场讲座，因为正好是Valentine's Day,于是在PPT中加上了一页Happy Valentine's Day.

为了怕老师们误解，我有特地找来几张外国的Valentine card（见文字之后），说明其丰富含义：Valentine's Day不仅仅是相爱的人的节日，而且也是一个表达爱意的节日，你应该向你所爱的人表达你的爱意。

Valentine's Day的起源有基本版本，其中一个很多人认可的说法是：这个节日是纪念专门为年轻人证婚的Valentine教士的，因为当时罗马皇帝对结婚设置很多限制条件。这位Valentine教士后来被封为圣人，成为Saint Valentine。再到后来，为了纪念，就有了Valentine's Day。

所以，我可以肯定：这个节日不适合翻译为“情人节”。若直译，是否可译为“瓦伦丁节”，若意译，是否可翻译为“爱意节”？

其实，我国现在对于外国节日、尤其是西方节日的名称翻译存在着诸多问题，这也是外语战略问题的一个小小的领域，而意义却可能并不那么小。或许需要专题讨论一下。
