1）adopt是use 和chose 的高维词。

  是“使用”和“采纳”选择的意思。几乎能替代chose 和 use。

  比如这句就是Use的替换, 选择一个工具、一个看法。

当我们盲目的用宗教、政治系统或者是文学教条的时候，我们变成了机器人。我们不再会成长了。

2）选择一个孩子，也是 adopt 收养。养父养母是adopter,而养子则是adoptee 或者adopted child了。

选择放弃一个孩子，则是 abortion 堕胎了。adoption 和 abortion向来是美国的热烈话题。双方各执一词，一方面强调选择的权利，一方面强调出生的权利。这个话题也成为每次美国选举的必然论点。
