SCHULER Chief Wine Sommelier


1.1 Job Title
Chief Wine Sommelier / Event Manager

1.2 Purpose of the job
Presenting the comprehensive wine knowledge of SCHULER to our own and potential clients. Acting as “main responsible” of SCHULER in terms of wine knowledge, education and customer relations.


1.3 Objective function
Self-depending organization of events in the SCHULER Flagship shop and outside. Creating and maintaining contacts to KOL’s and Industry leaders. Assistance of the marketing, on-line and off-line sales departments in terms of wine selection and sales strategy. Wine training for in house staff, own and potential clients. Maintenance / care of SCHULER wine portfolio from the mother house and third parties. Stock control and supply chain from the mother house and third parties.


2. Working field

2.1 Tasks
- Organization and conduction of SCHULER events (and fairs) in the flagship shop and outside.  
- Close cooperation and contact to KOL’s and industry leaders in collaboration with the marketing department.

- In charge of the wine training in house for the staff and for own and potential clients during events.
- Internal consultant for strategies in terms of wine selection/brand awareness in close collaboration with the marketing department

- Maintenance of the SCHULER Portfolio in China

- Ensure the stock control and maintenance of the supply chain of wines from the motherhouse (in Switzerland) and third parties.

- Development of a SCHULER Wine club concept in close collaboration with the marketing department.

- Development of a SCHULER wine education classroom in close collaboration with the marketing department.

 
2.2 competences (powers)
The post holder is authorized to act independently in his capacity as SCHULER wine sommelier in the context of the tasks to be performed, respectively in consultation with the supervisor.


3.0 Requirements for the candidate
- Education:  Minimum college or above.

- WSET level 3 or above or

- Finished Sommelier education with diploma or

- Acknowledged wine KOL in the Chinese wine market

3.1 Experience:

- Over 5 years of professional experience in the position as Sommelier / Wine educator / Wine consultant in related industries, high end hotels and restaurants.

- Broad experience of the Chinese wine market. Well known position in the Chinese wine industry. (Preferably acknowledged as KOL).

3.2 Skills:

- Charismatic personality with joy and experience to speak in front of people

- Independent and reliable operation, excellent communication skills in spoken and written.
- Creativity and imagination, high customer relation orientation. Joy and interest in sales, customer behavior and customer relation.

- Chinese as  mother tongue, fluent English language skills required.

- Enthusiasm about wine is necessary.

- Willingness to work outside of office hours and  evening hours.
