大概一个多月以前，我路过孩子以前上学的学校，正巧碰着带照相机，就拿出来照了几张。没想到没过几秒钟，出来一位警卫，说是不让照相，还问我是谁，为什么照相？我做了解释也就走了。不过心里还是不太舒服——是什么让西方人成为惊弓之鸟？不过，我看了国内江苏一所幼儿园出的事情以后，就明白了，我们生活在这么一个社会，人人作茧自缚。

    小时候喜欢看《水浒》，喜欢书里面的那些“除暴济贫”的好汉们，当今社会很少看得到这样的好汉，是因为好汉想做好事也不成——因为社会是扭曲的，你做了好事被人误解和误会。还有，普通人受强权的欺负，他不起来反抗强权，反倒对更弱的群体施恶，这是一个什么社会呢。前几天LILIAN跟我谈宗教，当然也涉及了这次幼儿园的事件。宗教能够帮助人实现心理平衡，但是有的信仰者喜欢走极端；因此无论是信仰宗教的非信仰宗教的人，关键要看这个人是否善，只有善人才能有爱；恶人只有恶，只能在这个社会做恶，无论他是否有钱、有地位，还是没钱、或穷光蛋。

    Thanks a lot for your mail. Well, it is not only in China where people are suffering from depression due to economic and other factors but they don't go slaughtering children left right and centre. I tend to agree with you, the other factor in China's case could be  lack of freedom of expression which hinders people from venting their anger by attacking and speaking directly to the political elite. Religion also has its role to play. All these issues are intertwined and very challenging topic of discussion that would take us more than just a cup of tea to explore. I will be glad to share with you and I could even try to arrange with you time with our priest to give you more insight--he already knows you as the Chinese who went to receive sacrament when not baptized. Ha ha ha!!
    Cheer up though. With people like you and me who know that love conquers  all，the world will be a better place but we have to keep speaking out against injustices particularly those matted against the most vulnerable in our societies.
