No One Left Behind – 英文习作 - Nov. 11th

(2014-11-22 09:22:15)

Jogging with one’s family is generally regarded as a fun activity as well as a healthy one. But I was off to a rough start last weekend.

Our plan was to run together towards a creek and make a circle before coming back. No sooner when we reached the first street corner than I realized that both my wife and daughter were left behind. I slowed down a bit to wait for them. But my daughter started to put a hand on her lower stomach and said she felt a bit of stomachache. Thinking that she may get lazy and quit early, I decided not “ baby-sitting” them anymore and run straight ahead by myself. But I overestimated my stamina. Five minutes later, I was gasping and gradually came to a full stop. Surprisingly, both my wife and daughter flashed past me a moment later. Feeling ashamed, I restarted to catch up. Finally, we arrived at the creek about the same time. Taking a brief rest, we set out to make the return trip. My wife quickly led the pack and very soon, she has vanished at the far end of the bushes and trees. My daughter and myself has now become an alliance. We did our very best to pick up speed. Eventually, I had to throw in the towel and let my daughter run ahead without me.

I could imagine how hard I would be laughed at by the those two ladies when I reached home. But to my greatest surprise, after I arrived the front door, my daughter told me sadly that her mom was not home yet.  A minute later, my phone rang, my wife was still by the creek - looking for us! She was the one left behind.
