Arrival: Try to get a hotel close to LaGuardia airport. I am helping you to book a hotel in flushing…but not sure if I could get staff rate for you two. Otherwise, you could directly book for yourself….Marriott. COM/LGAFI…rates around 130USD. Considering the time of arrival, for safety reason, you should stay there. But if you would like to venture out, it is OK for you to take a shuttle bus from the airport to Manhattan. Then transit through subway to the hotel of your booking. Maybe you even want to do something fun midnight since it is Friday evening fever…so the night would be still young by the time you check in a hotel.
Consider lower Manhattan. Get up early...Take subway 4/5 and get to Battery park ( southern tip of Manhattan ) and find Pier A…go do Ellis Island & Liberty. Take a walk around the Battery Park…There is a FREE ferry to Staten Island if you are interested…walk to wall street…see the bull…the NYEX…the Trinity Church...all the small museums…walk to ground zero of World Trade Center…go to World Financial Center…see winter garden…walk to city hall. taste hot dog…etc…walk to Chinatown…confusious plaza…take a walk along Canal street...walk to Little Italy if you decide to do an Italian lunch…you are pretty much tied by now..take subway back to your hotel and rest till sunset…go to midtown area and just walk around…maybe a Broadway show is starting?
Do Midtown…empire state building…NBC studio…5th avenue…St. Patrick Cathedral…GE building…Rockfeller center…Make sure you see Grand Central Station and pay attention to the details…there is a link attached, please use it for your guild…maybe lunch @ central park…check out event before hands…usually abundant concerts…go to east side of the park, there is The Metropolitan museum…if you are still hungry for more museum stuff, go to museum of natural history at the west side of the park.…maybe dinner around Lincoln Center and check out any classical stuff. Take subway uptown and visit University of Columbia?? Hudson river is very nice…make sure you at least take a walk along riverside park…there is a train you could take along the river. If you are interested in seeing west point academy. Take that train…not more than 1 hour, you will be at west point…nice view... Since it is a Sunday, make sure you attend a church service.
Maybe get up early and take a walk around the neighbourhood of the hotel before fare-ing New York well.
