Sex is one of the those important things that gives us a lot of pleasure. Confucius says” Cloth, food and sex”. He also says “ I have yet to see anyone who love virtue better than sex”. In Chinese idiom, it says food and sex: the most important desire. How do we think of sex? Over my own life experience, I have found this is an extremely important subject and yet a rarely openly discussed one. It is one of the single most important area that young Christians find challenges in applying faith in their lives.

First of all, sex is a gift that come with this life. Our creator created this for everyone of all so that we may enjoy our lives and regenerate through it. So sex is definitely not an evil thing. Many non-Christians feel hesitated to come close  to the faith just because they think Christianity disgusts sex. When we grow up into manhood and womanhood we start to discover our body. This great discovery, like many others, is part of the process of knowing God. It is perfectly ok if we start enjoying it as single man or women when we for example, masturbate once in a while. There is no need to feel anxiety, guilty or sense of self - pity. 

My second point is that we need discipline when it comes to sex, just like many other entertainment. Do not indulge yourself, do not do it excessively. If you let sex have control yourself, it is to let a servant rule the master. You become an idol worshipper because you take sex as number 1 priority. Your spirit become second to your body. In a way, you are abusing your body. Many of us at this point would experience a negative feeling. That’s holy spirit’s intervention, He wants us to turn back to a normal life, to place God back on top and put sex in the right level of our lives.

As we matures, we would understand that a meaningful relationship is far more important than sex itself. Relationship leads to marriage and inside marriage, sex is rightfully available and accessible 24-7. Again, even in a married life, do not abuse sex. The worst form of it is committing an adultery which is a condemned sin. 

As spiritual men and women, we found the most enjoyable and comforting in a daily walk with God. Then there are many spiritual blessings that we could utilize to bring joy and peace to others. This gives us great pleasure and it is storing wealth in heaven. Then we comes to understand, sex is just like food, is our daily bread, something gives us earthly pleasure, but does not add any value for our bank account in heaven. We take sex, just like we take food, drink wine. Too much of it is only counter-productive and leads to damage of ourselves. God would be utterly sad if we fall into that situation.
