History is facilitated by the formation of discourse of the past and present through the production of narrative and visual records.No less significant than history itself is the individualis story and act of remembering in one’s own terms.

Try to Remember is a group exhibition of selected works by Chen Ping,He Jinwei,Jin Yangping,Liu Qiming,and Shen Shaomin. The artists’ presentations of contemporary events and phenomena seek to highlight moments,perspectives,identities and experiences that fall through the cracks of historical accounts driven towards narrative consistency.Each artist takes on the role of simultaneously being an observer and participant in specific moments in time,crafting a picture of people,events and histories.These exist at the margins and also bring forth the artist is personal viewpoints of the state of society in contemporary times.The works in Try to Remember do not just document,but attempt to intervene into the present and continuous act of remembering.
