一、设计理念:
本单元生词量不大,语法以情态动词can的用法为主,难度不大,根据新课程标准提倡的任务型教学,在课堂教学中我们设计了不同形式的任务,以便充分训练学生的听、说、读、写技能,培养学生综合运用英语进行交际的能力,

四、教学准备:
在开始学习本单元之前,教师提出预习任务,让学生了解国外party 的种类,如果你要办一个生日party, 你该怎样邀请别人,或当别人向你提出邀请之后,你该怎么做呢?你知道英文如何表达吗?学生小组讨论预习,用英文书面写出邀请或回复邀请的句子。要求学生给要好的同学或朋友写邀请函,和如果自己得到邀请函,书写回复函。

第一课时
Section A (1a-Grammar Focus)
完成任务所需句型:
A: Can you come to my party on Saturday afternoon?
B: Sure, I’d love to .
C: Can he go to the base ball game? No, he can’t. He has to study.
一、课前准备:
让学生了解国外party 的种类,如果你要办一个生日party, 你该怎样邀请别人,或当别人向你提出邀请之后,你该怎么做呢?你知道英文如何表达吗?学生小组讨论预习,用英文书面写出邀请或回复邀请的句子。
二、导入:
在国外,人们紧张的日常生活中总会穿插着各种各样的party,一个生日,一次升职,一次道别,都会成为开party的理由。现在的中国,尤其在大城市,也经常有这种洋为中用的做法。总是听见说哪里有派队(party的谐音)也许是因为生活太紧张也太繁忙的缘故吧,大家学会了忙中求乐。 Party有哪些种类,你知道吗?对了,比如有生日派队( birthday party ),婚礼派队( wedding party ),新年派队( New Year’s party ),圣诞派队( Christmas’ party ),欢迎派队( welcome party ),告别派队( departure party )等等。
当别人向你提出邀请之后,你该怎么做呢?是爽快地答应,还是婉言拒绝。你知道英文如何表达吗?
三、任务活动:
Step 1: Show the studying aims to the students, let them read it.
Step 2: Check the preview work.(检查布置的任务,为自己办的晚会邀请同学)
Step 3: Ask the students to act out the
invitations

至少找6个小组的同学进行表演。
教师把学生接受邀请或拒绝邀请用的本单元出现的词组板书到黑板上。让学生反复朗读,反复记忆。

Listen. Write the names (Tim, Ted, Kay, Antonia and Wilson) next to the correct students in the picture above.
Step 6: 2a Let the students listen and circle “can” or “can’t”(Task4)
Step 7: 2b Listen again. Number the reasons [1-3]
Ask: Why can’t people go to the party?
Step 8: Pairs work : (Task 5)
Look at the reasons to say no to an invitation in 2b. Write some more.
Then, Student A, invite your partner to do something. Student B, say you can’t go and say why.
Let the students act it out.
e.g. A: Hey , Dave, can you go to the movies on Saturday?

一、课前任务:
让学生准备三张生日邀请卡,并分别修饰。准备邀请朋友参加生日聚会。
二、自由会话:
谈论有关生日的话题:
A: When is your birthday?
B: It’s November the first.
A: How old are you?
B: I’m thirteen years old.
A: What year were you born?
B: I was born in 1991.
A: Where were you born?
B: I was in Suozhen.
三、任务活动:
1.3a Read the invitation. Then fill in the blanks in the conversation.
(1)让学生拿出自己的生日邀请卡,根据格式把卡片填上。并复习日期和时间的表达法。

S: At home.
(2) Paris work,go over the drills about the dates and times,and complete the dialogue。
(3) Complete the dialogue。
(4) Correct the answer,and ask more questions. For example:
1.Who will have a birthday party?
2.Where does she have her party?
3.Who is going to her party?
4.When is her birthday?
(5) Give the invitations to your classmates.,and ask them to your birthday party. For example:
A: Hello, Lin Tao.
B: Hello, Jim.
A: I have a birthday party at home. Can you come to my party?
B: Great! I’d love to. When is it?
A: It’s on Wednesday evening, August 1st.
B: What time is it?
A: It’s at 6 o’clock.
B: OK. See you.
(6)Two groups act out, and show their invitations.
2. 3b Practice the conversation in activity 3a. Then think of different activities, days, and times. Make your own conversations.
(1)Read the dialogue, and act it out.
(2)If next week is May Day/ Children’s Day,Ask your partner if they will take part in the party. For example:
A: Next week is May Day/ Children’s Day. Can you go to the evening party?
B: Sure! I’d love to.
A: When is it?
B: It’s on Friday evening May 1st/ June 1st.
A: What time is it?
B: It’s at 6 o’clock.
A: Where is it having?
B: In the auditorium.
A: What about you? Can you go there?
B: Of course. Let’s meet at the school gate at five-thirty.
(3)Group works. Talk about whether you will take part in the activities next week.
3. Student A, you are Eliza. Look at this page. Student B, you are Lu Qing. Look at page 100. look at your calendar for this week. Eliza, invite Lu Qing to go to the mall. Find a time when you can both go to the mall.
(1)Ask and answer. Talk about Eliza’s Calendar. For example:
1.What is Eliza doing on Monday morning?
2.What is she doing on Thursday?
3.What is she doing on weekends?
4.Is she doing homework on Tuesday afternoon?
(2) Group work。
(3) Talk about Lu Qing’s Calendar.
(4)Find a free time for Eliza and Lu Qing.
Eliza and Lu Qing are both free on Wednesday afternoon, Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday.
(5)Imagine you two are Eliza and Lu Qing,make a dialogue to find a time to the mall.。

1.Pairwork : Make a dialogue by a telephone call to invite a friend to an activity.
Try to use “Can you…? ” and “I’m doing…”
Student A: Hello. (name). Can you go to movies this afternoon?
Student B: Hello. (name). I’m sorry I can’t. I have too much homework to do. I’m doing my homework.
Student A: That’s too bad. Maybe another time. What about this evening?
Student B: Sure. I’d love to. When?
Student A: What do you think of half past seven?
Student B: Sure. Thanks for asking.
2.Ask other students to ask and answer in pairs about the dialogue above..
Student A: Can he/she go to the movies this afternoon?
Student B: No, he/she can’t. He/She is doing homework.
Student A: Can he/she go to the movies this evening?
Student B: Yes, he/she can.
三、任务活动
1. Write the dates for this week on the calendar
(1)Take out a calendar and ask the students to see
Take out a calendar and ask “What’s today?”
Then answer together with the students “It’s Monday 14th”.
The same way to study yesterday and tomorrow:
What is tomorrow? (The answer may be “ It is Tuesday the 15th”.)
What is the day after tomorrow? (The answer may be “ It is Tuesday the 16th”.)
What was yesterday?(The answer may be “It was Sunday the 14th ”.)
What was the day before yesterday?(The answer may be “It was Sunday the 13th ”.)
(2)Ask a pair of students to ask and answer about the dates. Pay attention to the use of “the” before the ordinal numbers.
(3)Students fill in out the tables with the words in “1 b”.
(4)Read and talk about the calendars in pairs.
2. Talks about one’s activities
(1)Listen and circle “yes” or “no” on 2a.
(2)Listen again and match Vince’s activities with the days.
(3)Check the answers.
(4)Give the dialogue and act it out
A: Hi, Vince.
B: Yes, Windy.
A: Can you play football with me?

B: Oh…no, sorry, I can’t. I have to go to a doctor and study for a test then.

(5)Ask students to take out their calendars and write their activities about the day before yesterday, yesterday, today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
(6)Group work to ask and answer each other’s activities like 2c.
(7)Report about one’s activities and other’s activities.
3.Write your friend’s activities about yesterday, today and tomorrow. Then discuss in groups.
4.Read the e-mail address. Then complete Sonia’s calendar below.
(1)Read the e-mail silently without pointing the words one by one.
(2)Fill in the form.
(3)Check out the answers.
(4)Work in groups, discuss the e-mail and give your doubts about it.
(5)Try to know how to write an e-mail to refuse your friend’s invitation to an activity.
5.Try to write an e-mail to your friend to refuse a invitation to an activity next week.
