①do well
in表示“在某方而做得好,擅长”,in后一般放名词。放动词时要用动名词。其意思和用法与“be good at”相近,两者可相互替换。
例如:I do well in
speaking.我擅长口语。
He dose well in English=Hs is good at English.他很擅长英语。
Li Ming did better in swimming than I did last year.
去年李明游泳游得比我好。
I'm good at Chinese.我在语文方面很好。
They all do well in jumping=They are all good at jumping.

②better表示更好,是good和well的比较级,在此处作为well的比较级副词,修饰动词放在动词之后。
例如:I want to write
better.我想写得更好。
Lily plays football better than Lucy does.莉莉比露茜踢球技术好。
拓展:well而作为形容词多指身体好,而good作为形容词,泛指“好”。
