要  点  解  疑

    ①would为助动词，可以用来表示要求、邀请、希望和询问，尤其后接mind等动词。

    例如：Would you please show me the way? 请你指点指点道路好吗？

          Would you lend me you dictionary? 你可以借给我你的词典吗？

          I would like to say a few words about it．我想针对此事说几句话。

    would构成过去将来时态，作为“will”的过去形式，可用于各种人称。

    例如：I thought you would be there。我以为你在哪里。

          I told him I would wait for him outside。我告诉他我在外面等他。

    would表示意愿，在陈述语气和虚拟语气中都可以用。

    例如：She would never agree。她绝不会同意的。

          I'd be glad it you would give me an account of it.

          你如果愿意把情况给我谈我将很高兴？

          I would do it if they would let me．要是他们让我干我是愿意干的。

    would表示过去反复发生的动作。

    例如：Every evening he would teach us to read and write.

          每天晚上他都教我们读和写。

          Now and then a magpie would call．不时会有喜鹊鸣叫。

    would表示一种猜测。

    例如：That would be his mother．这大概是他妈。

          Peter would still be reading his paper。彼得可能还在看他的论文。

    ②mind在本句中意为“介意”，mind之后跟名词或动名词，但不能跟动词不定式，常用于疑问句，否定句中。

    例如：I don't mind the cold．我不在乎天冷。

    Would you mind smoking? 抽烟你不介意吧？

    ③turn down“关小；调低”；反意词组为turn up“开大；调高”。

    例如：turn down the gas把煤气关得小一点

          turn up the radio把收音机调高一点

    类似的词组还有：

    turn on开，打开（电灯、自来水、无线电）

    turn off关，关闭（水源、煤气、电灯）

    例如：turn on the radio打开收音机

          Turn off the light when you leave the room．离开房间时请关灯。

    ④right away意为“立刻；马上”。

    同义词组为in a minute，at once。

    例如：There's no time， I have to go to school in a minute.

          没时间了，我必须马上上学。

          Do it at once。马上做这件事。

    ⑤dish本意为“盘；碟”是可数名词。

    例如：There are some dishes on the table。在桌子上有一些盘子。

    the dishes意为“碟盘类；食器类”，在本句中译为餐具，do the dishes意为“洗餐具”，do引申为“清洗”。

    例如：do some shopping  购物    do some reading  读书

    ⑥would you mind not doing sth.? 你介意不要做某事吗？

    例如：Would you mind not closing the door?

          你介意不要关门吗？（请不要关门好吗？）

    ⑦get out of意为“从……出来”，反意词组为get into意为“走进……里边”。

    例如：With these words， the old man got into the car.

          说着这些话，老人上了车。

    ⑧put on意为“穿上”，反意词组为take off意为“脱下”。

    例如：Look! Amy is putting on his new coat．看，埃米正在穿她的新衣服。

          The weather is hot today， you'd better takeoff your worm clothes。

          今天天气很热，你最好脱下暖和的衣服。

    ⑨pair可数名词、意为“一对；一双”。复数形式反应在pair上，单数用pair，复数用pairs。

    例如：a pair of shoes一双鞋  a pair of trousers一条裤子

    two pairs of trousers两条裤子

    ⑩could用疑问句时，表示请求允许、语气比can更婉转。

    例如：Could you do something for me? 你能帮我做点事吗？

          Could you help me? 你能帮我一下吗？
