昨天晚上看到消息,RDA测试美国第二阶段于10月1日开始。
The
2nd phase of the US National Libraries RDA Test, in which test
participants will begin to create RDA bibliographic and authority
records, begins on October 1. More information
about the test can be found on the Library of Congress web site at
http://www.loc.gov/bibliographic-future/rda/ and
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/RDAtest/rdatest.html.
Here
is information on two topics that may be of use as we enter this
phase of the testing process:
General Information about RDA Records in
WorldCat: Please see the “OCLC policy statement
on RDA Cataloging in WorldCat for the U.S. testing period”
(http://www.oclc.org/us/en/rda/policy.htm) for general information
and specific statements about making changes to records in WorldCat
during the testing period. We ask, during the
test, that you not add RDA elements to non-RDA master
records.
Special Master Records for the RDA Test:
A number of special master
records have been created to support the US RDA testing
participants. There are 25 records that will be
used for the “common original set” titles. Test
participants who will work online in OCLC will attach institution
records to these master records as part of the requirement for each
institution to create an AACR2 record and an RDA record for each.
The records are intentionally very brief.
There are also 5 records that will be used for
the “common copy set” titles. Test participants
will attach institution records to these master records also.
A document describing these records is available
from the Library of Congress web site at
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/RDAtest/commonsets.pdf.
All can be retrieved by browsing the title “US
RDA TEST”. We ask that OCLC member libraries not
make any changes to these records during the testing
process.
