竹雕也称竹刻，是在竹制的器物上雕刻多种装饰图案和文字，或用竹根雕刻成各种陈设摆件。我国是世界上最早使用竹制品的国家，所以竹雕在我国也由来已久。竹雕成为一种艺术，自六朝始，直至唐代才逐渐为人们所识，并受到喜爱。竹雕发展到明清时期大盛，雕刻技艺的 精湛超越了前代，在中国工艺美术史上独树一帜。

         竹雕早期通常是将宫室、人物、山水、花鸟等纹饰，刻在器物之上。雕刻的方法主要有阴线、阳刻、圆雕、透雕、深浅浮雕或高浮雕等。（摘编着百度）
