drawing, picture, cartoon, caricature哪个词更“牛”？

        这是一名考研学生问我的问题，即考研描述段的开头，用哪个词更“显得自己有水平”？要回答这个问题，就要看一看这几个词汇的英文释义：

        drawing: 柯林斯高阶词典的释义为：A drawing is a picture made by a pen or pencil. 牛津高阶词典的解释为：a picture made using a pencil or pen rather than paint.两本词典都强调用铅笔或钢笔，这与考研写作的图画设计吻合，属于准确无误解的用词。

        再看picture: 柯林斯高阶词典的释义为：A picture consists of lines and shapes which are drawn, painted, or printed on a surface and show a person, thing, or scene.可见只要是描绘人物、物体或者场景的平面图，都可以是picture，picture的另一个含义是为A picture is a photograph. 《牛津高阶词典》有个释义也很有意思：an image on the television screen，由此可见，无论是“图画”、“照片”，还是“电视图像”，都可以是picture, 而考研写作2002年和2006年两年考题都是照片，因此，picture可以同时适用于图画描述和照片描述两种情况，属于读起来没有什么感觉，但是绝对安全，而且无误解的词汇。

        cartoon和caricature呢？《柯林斯高阶词典》中对cartoon做出如下释义：A cartoon is a humorous drawing or series of drawings in a newspaper or magazine.《牛津高阶词典》的释义则为: an amusing drawing in anewspaper or magazine, especially one about politics or events in the news. 看到了吧？只有图画寓意为“幽默、有趣”才用cartoon,因为它的含义为“讽刺漫画”，如果考研写作图画的寓意偏于弘扬正面社会现象，你还用cartoon，那么它的“幽默、讽刺”体现在何处呢？

        最后看看caricature，《柯林斯高阶词典》中的释义为：Acaricature of someone is a drawing or description of them that exaggeratestheir appearance or behavior in a humorous or critical way.而《牛津高阶词典》的释义为：a funny drawing orpicture of somebody that exaggerates some of their features.两个词典对比可知，表现形式夸张，富于幽默和批评特性的图画才可以用caricature，可是如果图画的寓意偏于弘扬正面社会现象，那么它的“幽默”体现在哪里？它的“批判性”又体现在哪里呢？

看来不少考研考生的写作用词理念是这样的：即拼写字母长，自己不太认识的单词，就是“牛”的，阅卷者看起来“高大上”，就会觉得参试者“造诣高”。可是中国学生从小就没有阅读查阅英文词典，又怎么能够体会英文单词的隐晦含义呢？In the picture above,In the drawing above,In the cartoon above, In the caricature above,

        考研写作真正难的不是思维、结构和句型，而是选词......可这又是我们在小学几年级就应该做的呢？如果考研写作的200字都是通俗易懂的词汇就好了，考生自己固然知道在写什么，阅卷者一看就懂得考生的写作思路。咱先别模板了，先把词儿写对了吧，是picture, drawing, 还是cartoon, caricature呢？
