5. Please describe your biggest non-academic achievement in the past years. What’s the critical obstacle you faced during the process and how did you solve it?
I think my biggest non-academic achievement is that I founded the Society of Public Administration Association in South China University of Technology with other four classmates in 2003.
During the foundation of the association, we faced the following critical obstacle: because of heavy pressure from the coming terminal test and the massive tasks about the association, the head of the association want to give up and leave, which caused the passive mood from other three classmates. In order to improve this situation, on one hand, I insisted on trying my best to do the tasks about the association and diligently studied in my spare time for the coming test, with the aim to give other four classmates a demonstration in coordinating study and work; on the other hand, I tried to persuade other four classmates to stick up. At last, we cooperated with positive attitude again; finished the tasks of the foundation of the association very well, and furthermore, the Society of Public Administration Association earn the honor of star association in South China University of Technology.

When I founded the Society of Public Administration Association with other four classmates, we worked in a team. During the foundation, members of the team of have totally different view. For example, while we establishing publication of the Society of Public Association, member A persisted that publication should be practical and useful for the employment of students who are major in administration, and member B persisted that publication should not only be practical, but also be academically. The different views make them got angry with each other. At that time, I play the role of coordinator in the team. I analyzed superiority and inferiority of two views calmly, and persuaded them to keep calm. Then after a while, the two members turned to calm and friend to each other again. Actually, my role as coordinator is so important in a team that I got “the prize of Outstanding Achievement” of Society of Public Administration Association after I retired from the association.
