One Night Stand

一夜情深

Have you come across someone that fell into your life like a shining star which brightened your life and even your soul then faded away like a comet?

在你有限的人生里有没有遇见个一位象流星一般的人, 给你的生活, 甚至是你的灵魂带来了光明, 然后又悄然消逝得无踪可寻呢?

I always wonder what would brighten a man's life. I had a survey among many men who I could put the very question to. However, there were more answers to it than I first thought. What were they? I can list a few: Money, Love, overseas travel, stardom status etc...

我总在寻思, 是什么能点燃一个男人的生命. 我曾问过许多男性朋友这样的问题. 我得到的答案比我想象的要多许多, 我想最主要的莫于以下几点: 金钱, 爱情, 环球旅行, 当名星.

In my case, I do not care about money that much, just make sure I have enough to make myself live comfortably, besides, it is always risky to earn that much money in the first place and it is even riskier to keep your money. Overseas travels? they are so nice, but fortunately my job allows me to have them, plenty of them, so it would be quite hard to have a special one to excite me. I am no where close to be a star, though I firmly believe I am good looking, so forget about this.  Love? what is love? I have been asking this question to myself for a long time. I yet to give myself a good answer.

对我来说金钱不是那样重要. 我感觉我要是能有足以让我生活舒适的金钱就很满意. 再说挣大钱本来就是件冒险的事情, 挣到大钱了让人知道了也是件危险的事情. 环球旅行是件美事, 幸运的是我的工作让我有许多机会走天下, 所以环球旅行很难得让我心旷神怡了. 我尽管不认为自己长得难看, 但早就放弃了自己的明星梦, 所以就不为之倾心了. 至于爱, 我一直在追寻爱的定义, 至今尚未能给我自己一个满意的答案.

The longer you live, more experience you would have, something will happen to you once or twice like a miracle or tragedy. I can still recall a night in the 80s. A friend told me that comet Halley would pass the sky that night. So I joined a group of people who wanted to the once in a lifetime events( once in every 76 years to be more precise). We stood  the whole night waiting for the miracle to happen, but sadly it was so cloudy, we saw nothing but droplets from over-night drizzles.

你的人生路走得越长, 生活的阅历就会越多, 那么在你的生命中珍贵的东西, 甚至是一两次的奇迹发生的可能性就越大.记得我还是位少年的80年代的一天, 一位要好的朋友告诉我那晚哈雷慧星那夜会从天空划过, 因为哈雷每76年才从地球附近经过一次, 这是个人生一次的难得机会. 几位少年守候了一整夜, 令人伤心的是那夜先是迷雾, 后来又下起了小雨...

Disappointed I was that night, but it was this "one-night-stand" with Halley that kept in happy memory as a young man and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. Unexpectedly, so many years later, I feel I am so lucky to have my "Halley" landed on my planet of life.

那的确是遗憾的一夜激情, 但那种对奇迹的等待的心情也永远铭记在我当时少年的心中, 一直保留至今. 许多年后的现在每每想到这件事情, 都让我会去执意珍惜坠落在我生活中的点点滴滴的爱.
