Japanese whaling, lies and shame

I don't know what is the rationale behind, but China supports countries like Japan and Norway for their commercial whaling. We Chinese do not eat whale meat at all yet Japanese are not doing anything that we would appreciate, not for a long time.

I am not a Green Peace member and I do not belong to any other environmental protection organization either. I have to admit that I do have a lot of concerns for the global environment including many for China's too.

I go back to China to visit my family and friends frequently and I have had many chances to witness first-handed impact of pollutions to people as well as wild life there. The most unforgettable images are the air pollutions in many large cities around China.

I know China needs to improve the quality of its environment since it is vital, directly or indirectly to many things to fulfil its ambitions, among which  a great ambition to host a great 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

For those obvious reasons, China should have voted against the commercial whaling which was held late last week, but did not. I understand there might be good reasons for the for-vote, but I cannot help being quite disappointed, not just because I hate what Japanese did to Chinese people a long time ago, not even for what they have done poorly to Chinese people lately. I am disappointed because I can clearly see that Japan is telling lies about their so called whaling for scientific purpose, for God sake, they abuse that and all they want is to enjoy whale meat. So I have every reason to be disappointed.

God damn you, Japan!
