Bodhisattvas’ characteristic of “mind dwelling nowhere” doesn’t mean having a malfunctioning mind.

 Instead, it refers to keeping wholesome aspiration without any attachment. Mundane people who suffer from a multitude of afflictions are obliged to work much harder in this way.

Without the aspiration to develop a better state of mind, one will only deteriorate due to afflictions.

When they fall into the evil realms and suffering, they won’t even be able to understand what attachment is.
