By praying and worshipping Buddhas we should not expect the Buddha or Bodhisattvas to bring us anything physically.

 Instead, it helps us to develop strong and positive minds, more courage and strength to conquer difficulties. 

And that is the real assistance we attain from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
