话说这春节“马上”过去了，好像缺点什么——原来今年美国奥巴马总统居然没有按往常发表对亚裔的农历新年祝词，打破了历年美国总统的一个好传统。只有国务卿克里发表了“2014 Lunar New Year Press Statement”， “代表欧巴马总统和美国人民向世界各地在1月31日庆祝阴历新年的众多人民表示最良好的祝愿”。虽然不是特定对中国人，但还是提到了“马年”（Year of the Horse）。

请注意，美国驻华使馆翻译的克里祝词中将Obama翻译为“欧巴马”，而不是按照中国的官方译法“奥巴马”。这种翻译上的区别几年前就开始了，《华盛顿邮报》2009年11月曾专门就此发表了一篇报道：Diplomatic tussle: 'Aobama' or 'Oubama'?（外交角力:“奥巴马”还是“欧巴马”？）。报道的第一句话写的很俏皮：The Chinese government invited "President Aobama" to China. But it was "President Oubama" who emerged from Air Force One（中国政府邀请“奥巴马总统”访华，结果从“空军一号”下来的却是“欧巴马总统”）。

言归正传，今年克里的阴历新年祝词原文和美国使馆发布的官方译文如下，典型的美式“洋八股”：
