Amy Cox-Petersen:Amy Cox-Petersen joined the faculty in 1998 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Science Education. She received a BS and MA in Education at East Carolina University. Her research interests include educational partnerships and informal science learning in museum and field settings. She’s published articles in Science Education, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Journal of Science Teacher Education, Teacher Education Quarterly, and Science & Education. One of her articles, "Empowering Science Teachers as Researchers and Inquirers" was awarded Best Paper at the Association for Science Teacher Education 2001 annual meeting. She was awarded the 2000 Distinguished Science Teacher Award at the four-year college level by the California Science Teachers Association. In addition, she has authored two books, Educational Partnerships: Connecting, Schools Families and the Community (Sage, 2010) and Teaching Science to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Elementary Students (Pearson, 2011).

Victoria Brookhart Costa:Dr. Vikki Costa, Professor of Secondary Education at California State University Fullerton, has 30 years of experience teaching chemistry, mathematics, and education at the secondary, community college, and university levels. Her efforts to design programs to better prepare teachers and teachers educators for 21st century digital learning environments have been showcased at state, national, and international events. Dr. Costa consults for NASA and Intel Education and has traveled throughout the United States and to Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Egypt, and Portugal to provide professional development in educational technologies to university faculty and K-12 classroom teachers. Dr. Costa is also assisting the University transition from Blackboard to TITANium Moodle course management systems by providing professional development to faculty on the use of TITANium and other digital tools and resources to support traditional, blended, and online instruction.

Kristen Shand:Kristen Shand is an assistant professor in the Department of Secondary Education. She received her Ph.D. at California State University Riverside in Curriculum and Instruction. She currently serves as the Director of Admission to the Single Subject Credential Program and coordinates the Social Studies program. Her research interests focus on visual literacy, digital learning and quantitative methods of research. She currently serves on the editorial board of the academic journal Theory and Research in Social Education.
Kristen teaches social studies instructional methods to teacher credential candidates and quantitative methods to doctoral students. She also runs workshops for current teachers in the use of technology for teaching and learning. She has organized and taught a Journey to China workshop for Walnut-Valley Unified School District to help their teachers understand the history, culture and language of their students of Chinese heritage.

Natalie A. Tran:Dr. Natalie A. Tran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Secondary Education at California State University, Fullerton. Her research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum and programs related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and examining factors that affect students’ learning experiences both in the classroom and out-of-school settings. These areas align with her research interest in evaluation of policies and programs aimed at improving the learning outcomes of students from diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Her methodological research interests include hierarchical linear modeling, experimental design, quasi-experimental design, and survey studies. Her work has been published the Journal of Engineering Education, International Journal of Engineering Education, International Journal of Science Education, Journal of Pre-College Engineering Education Research, and Computers in Human Behavior. She serves as the Coordinator for Faculty Development Center at California State University, Fullerton in the area of Research Design and Analysis. Currently, she teaches courses in the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership including Survey of Educational Research, Methods of Research: Quantitatively - Based Methods, and Specialization in Quantitatively - Based Tools. She also provides consultation on quantitative research methods for students and faculty in the doctoral program and serves on various dissertation committees.
