The Story of the Future will give participants - especially writers - skills in digital media and cross art-form collaboration. It will also support the development of commercially adaptable digital, interactive and multiplatform projects driven by Australia's rising generation of creative writers.

The Story of the Future will be made up of a series of seminars and workshops over 2006-07, including industry seminars, one-day developmental workshops and five-day LAMP residential workshops. It is an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts in partnership with the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Writing the Story of the Future: One day seminars on the role of the author in the digital age

The Australia Council for the Arts invites you to a one-day seminar exploring a universe in which the book is a game without buttons.

Join acclaimed US games designer Chris Avellone, a founder of Obsidian Entertainment, award-winning scriptwriter Simon Hopkinson and new media educator Christy Dena in an exciting discussion of the ways that digital media are transforming our storytelling.

Writing the Story of the Future is aimed at writers, writer-producers, organisations that work with and support writers, educators, literary critics and the media.

• An industry seminar for publishers and policy makers in Canberra February 2007.
• Two one-day LAMP: The Story of the Future Developmental Workshops developing projects with writers in Melbourne and Sydney in March 2007.
• A five-day LAMP: The Story of the Future Residential Workshop where writers and teams bring projects to life in April/May 2007.
