Tenure Track Position in Chinese Studies

The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for an open-rank position in the tenure track in Chinese Studies beginning in August 2010.   While preference may be given to junior level candidates, senior level scholars are encouraged to apply.  Candidates must have native speaker level proficiency in Chinese and expertise in one or more of the following areas: literary and cultural studies, history, civilization, cultural anthropology, sociolinguistics.  Successful candidates will have a doctorate in an appropriate area of Chinese studies, strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, and interest in teaching a full range of courses in the curriculum. Teaching load is 2+2.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Applicants should send a letter of application (indicating, among other things, whether they plan to attend the ACTFL meeting in San Diego and/or the MLA meeting in Philadelphia), resume, statements of research, teaching, and curricular interests, and three (3) letters of recommendation (which may be included with the packet or sent directly by referees).  Representative publications may also be included.

Kennesaw State University Assistant Professor of Chinese

Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor position in Chinese in the Department of Foreign Languages, beginning August 2010. An earned doctorate in Chinese linguistics or associated field is required as well as native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English. Highly desirable: a record of successful teaching experience and direct experience studying or working in China. Preference given to candidates with a preparation in Chinese pedagogy and/or teaching Chinese as a second/foreign language. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work effectively as a team member within the Department of Foreign Languages, be committed to teaching Chinese at all levels and to supervising internships and/or facilitating extra-curricular activities.
