一本新的有关劳伦斯小说《袋鼠》研究著作出来了，我给有关作者写了简单的comments,随手让机器自动翻译成了中文，很有意思，如果看不懂，下面有英文原文对照一下哈。我周围有人翻译之前找捷径，刷黑原文用自动翻译，然后改翻译后的文字，结果错误百出。让我想起最近美国一个政府网站上的中文，找工作栏目自动翻译成了“乔布斯”等等，令人瞠目。最准确的机器翻译估计应该是科技词汇，人文类的千万别走这种捷径。如果不懂英文想看看大概意思还凑合，基本等于看日语哈。

As the translator of the Chinese edition of Kangagoo, l had learned a lot from Rob’s previous book “Lawrence in Australia”,partly from which this new book has developed. I just marvel at your 40 years’ unremitting efforts to explore into the recesses of history for the truth behind Lawrence’s novel.

Certainly I will find chances to let the Chinese readers(though the number of readers of Kangaroo is very limited) know about  this and actually i have already used Rob’s discovery to correct Aldington’s preface to the book , the correction was published in my new book “Essays on D.H.Lawrence”. Next year the revised edition of Kangaroo might be in print and I will take the opportunity to talk about Rob’s discovery in the revised preface.
