Everyone sang

Everyone suddenly burst out singing;

And I was filled with such delight

As prisoned birds must find in freedom

Winging wild across the white

Orchards and dark-green fields; on; on;

And of sight.

Everyone’s voice was suddenly lifted,

And beauty came like the setting sun .

My heart was shaken with tears;

And horror drifted away … but everyone

Was a bird; and the song was wordless;

The sing will never be done .

          人人歌唱

人们倏然引吭高歌；

我满心欢喜

就如被囚的鸟儿获得自由

展翼任飞翔，飞过

白色的果园和碧绿的旷野，飞呀飞；

直至消失于视野。

人们歌声突然扬起,

诗意的黄昏之景出现。

我的心随泪水而激动；

恐惧烟消云散…… 人们啊

真成了鸟儿，无声的歌

永远唱不完。
