    I am writing this letter to express my thanks to you, because your encouragement brings me power, arouses my enthusiasm for study and helps me to succeed in English learning.

    During my first college year, I had a variety of difficulties in English study. For instance, I had great trouble in memorizing words. In addition, it was difficult for me to understand the rules of grammar. Though I could write and read, I failed to express myself freely in oral English. Then, you invited me to participate in English club. It is your help in this club that enables me to build up not only adequate knowledge, but also confidence and competence.
