——【宋】宋祁 《玉楼春》 

    据记载，西董镇杏林村明、清时期名称葛家洞。1931年至1937年，梁漱溟先生在邹平创办乡村建设研究院进行乡村建设实验时，因这里杏树多而改其名为杏林。

    阳春三月，这里几百亩的杏树林就会引来络绎不绝的游客。走在杏林村的田间小路上，仰目而见的杏林一望无际，到处是一片片杏花的海洋，整个山坡都像披了淡白色的轻雾。忽然一阵春风拂过，片片杏花随风飘荡，煞是壮观。

    走进杏林村村南的田野里，已感受不到早上的春风凉意。顺着田埂往深里而去，不知不觉间就处在了杏海林间，怒放的杏花林是一片诱人的世界：众多杏树连排成行，枝条舒展，风姿绰约；透过阳光，杏花更显晶莹剔透，清雅淡洁……让人如入梦境，惊喜莫名。

    走入杏林村的杏林之间，你会发现这里杏树的不同于其它地方的另外一大显著特点，就是树形别致、造型各异。这显然是常年修剪所致——我想，由于这里的杏树已成为一种产业，出于挂果和收成的需要，村民对杏树的管理须及时到位，每年都进行枝条修剪以防止其疯长。于是，这些杏树树冠不大，树形婆娑，树枝弯弯曲曲。而这反倒增添了这些杏树的外形魅力——它们或如虬龙舞动之影，或似螳螂争斗之举，耐人寻味：
