苍凉的“怪树林”，立定于沙海碱滩之中，据说是黑将军及众将士不死的灵魂所在。相传，当年黑将军他们在此搏杀。这片枯死的怪树林，经历了历史的沧桑，是真正意义上的三千年胡杨精神之体现。

    荒漠中一大片死去的胡杨树残骸，或躺或卧，有曲有伸，有的仰天长啸，直立的躯干顽强地矗立在风沙之中，彰显着“死而千年不倒”；有的行若雄鸡，有的状如乳象，有的如英雄战死沙场，宁死不屈，有的如将军剑指前方，英姿勃发；每每述说着“ 生而千年不死、死而千年不倒、倒而千年不朽”的传说。

    相传，当年黑将军带领士卒冲出城外，一路拼杀，最后战死在离城西不远的怪树林。枯死的怪树林，凝重苍劲，盘根错节，立定于沙海之中，深深扎根于碱滩。
