据称，从形态方面来说，整体来看冰沟砂岩表现为 “顶圆、檐突、身陡、麓缓”的特点，主要的景观是丹崖绝壁、堡状孤山、叠板岩墙、单斜孤峰、单斜峰群等宏观景观，还有柱状石峰、孤立岩墙、笋状石芽等微观象形山石，它们形成了造型多样、变化无穷的组合。
