乘船登岛，在海驴岛上寻找悠久的神话传说，你会游览情趣盎然，更增添了尽阅海岛风光的兴致。

    关于海驴岛与距此不远的鸡鸣岛的一些神话故事，除了上篇介绍的之外，在民间流传的还有这样一个版本：

    相传很久以前，二郎神奉命给海龙王送珍禽异兽，他挑着担儿，前面装着西域幼驴，后面装着北国雄鸡。为避凡界耳目，他白天隐匿，夜间赶路。没想到因道路生疏，延缓了行程，在即将到达东海之际，晨曦己露，雄鸡一声长鸣，二郎神惊慌中折了扁担，一时收拾不及，便匆匆隐去。被扔下的雄鸡落海，化作鸡鸣岛，幼驴落海，化作海驴岛。两截扁担随水漂去，一截留在鸡鸣岛边，化成扁担石（见前面《夏游威海07》篇）；另一截随水漂到烟台芝罘一带停住，化为扁担岛。
