Now, living with another family, although they treat me so well I have to watch my step all the time.
2)邢岫烟住在贾府园中,终是寄人篱下。
Xiuyan's living in the Jia's Garden(court/compont) as a dependent.
情投意合
1)只因他虽和黛玉一处长大,情投意合,又愿同生同死,却只心中领会,从来未当面说出。
Though he and Daiyu had grown up side by side and were kindred spirits who longed to live and die together, this was simply tacitly understood by both but had never been put into words.
2)尤二姐听说,笑道:“依你说,你两个已是情投意合了。竟把你许给了他,岂不好?”
"It sounds as if the two of you are always of one mind." Second Sister chuckled, "How would it be if we were to betroth you to him?"

Now Xue Pan was a living example of the saying "To cover the land of Shu after getting the region of Long."
咬牙切齿
1)凤姐笑道:“他倒不怨我,他临死咬牙切齿,倒恨宝玉呢。”
"She bore me no grudge," replied Xifeng, "It was Baoyu who made her grind her teeth with rage just before she died."
2)金桂的母亲恨得咬牙切齿的骂宝蟾。
Gnashing her teeth Mrs Xia swore at Baochan.
一败涂地
1)必须先从家里自杀自灭起来,才能一败涂地呢!
We must start killing each other first before our family can be completely destroyed.
2)往后子孙遇见不得意的事,还是点底子,不到一败涂地。
Then in future, if things go badly for our descendants, they will have something to fall back on and won't be bankrupted.
3)完了,完了!不料我们一败涂地如此!
We're done for, done for! To think that we should be reduced to this!
鬼鬼祟祟
1)别叫我替你们害臊了!你们鬼鬼祟祟干的那些事,也瞒不过我去!
Don't make me blush for you. What you're up to is no secret to me.
2)那一遭儿你这么小心来?这又不知是来做耳报神的,也不知是来做探子的!鬼鬼祟祟,倒吓我一跳。什么好下流种子!
Since when have you been so attentive? Or are your spying for someone, acting in this hole-and-corner way? You gave me quite a fright, you sneaky devil/pervert.
3)两个人鬼鬼祟祟的,不知说些什么。
Godness knows what they're being so secretive about.
4)这两日他往这里头跑得不象。鬼鬼祟祟的,不知干些什么事。
She's been creeping in here the last couple of days in a very sneaky way. Godness knows what she's up to.

无法无天

"You scoundrel!" thundered his father, "Not content with shriking your studied at home, you commit such wicked crimes outside!"

Baoyu's just getting better, and we've all been trying to keep our voices down; yet you raise a rumpus fit to wake the dead. If the higher ups are away just a few days, you lot run completely wild with no respect for anyone at all.
5)这百日内,只不曾拆毁了怡红院,和这些丫头们无法无天,凡世上所无之事,都玩耍出来。
So during these hundred days he and his maids rampaged as they pleased, getting up to mischief never heard of before and stopping short only of pulling sown Happy Red Court.
安分守己
1)你不安分守己、尽忠报国、孝敬主子,只怕老天也不容你。
If you don't behave properly as a loyal servant of the State, to be worthy of your master's kindness, Heaven and earth will surely condemn you.
2)妈,你若安分守己,在这屋里长久了,自有许多好处。
If you's just know your place and mind your own business here, mum, in the long run you'd gain a wholw lot by it.
3)原说下接过来大家安分守己的,我也不提旧事了。
We could all have settled down then, minding our own business, and I'd have let bygones be bygones.
4)从此养好了,可要安分守己的,别再胡闹了。
When you're better you must behave more circumspectly, and not carry on like that.
5)上次放你们,你们又不愿去,可就该安分守己才是;你们就成精鼓捣起来,调唆宝玉,无所不为!
When we offered last time to release you, you wouldn't go. Well then, you should have behave yourselves, instead of making mischief and getting Baoyu to carry on so wildly.
无精打采
1)宝玉无精打采,只得依他,晃出了房间。
Baoyu listtessly took her advice and pottered out.
2)宝玉因得罪了黛玉,二人总未见面,心中正自后悔,无精打采,哪里还有心肠去看戏。
Baoyu had not seen Daiyu since he offended her and was feeling too remorseful and depressed to enjoy any show.
3)宝玉欲待要说两句,又怕黛玉多心,说不得忍气,无精打采,只得出来。
But not wanting to annoy Daiyu too, he kept his temper and sulkily left the room.
4)黛玉见他无精打采的去了,又见脸上好似有哭泣之状,大非往日可比。
Daiyu saw that he looked in low spirits, quite unlike his usual self, and had been crying.
5)薛蟠言毕,只是长吁短叹无精打采的,不象往日高兴。
As he kept sighing and looked very downcast, not urging them to drink in his usual cheeful way.
6)宝玉只得无精打采,还入怡红院来。
Baoyu then returned dejectedly to Happy Red Court.
7)他们便是来了也是无精打采的
Hence they arrived looking listless and apathetic.
鸦雀无声
1)半日鸦雀无声。
A long silence followed/reigned/prevailed/issued.
2)紫鹃一面收拾了吐的药,一面拿扇子替黛玉轻轻的扇着。见三个人都鸦雀无声,各人哭各人的,也不由得伤心起来,也拿手帕子擦泪。
Zijuan, who cleaned up and was gently fanning Daiyu, was so affected by the sight of the three of them weeping in silence that she had to put a handkerchief to her own eyes.
3)宝玉背着手,到一处,一处鸦雀无声。
His hands behind his back, Baoyu strolled through the grounds and did not hear a sound.
4)碧痕、秋纹、麝月等众丫鬟见吵闹的厉害,都鸦雀无声的在外头听消息,这会子听见袭人跪下央求,便一齐进来,都跪下来了。
This was the signal for Bihen, Qiuwen and Sheyue, who had been listening with bated breath outside to rush in and kneel down behind her.
5)宝钗来至王夫人房里,只见鸦雀无声,独有王夫人在里间房内坐着垂泪。
All was strangely quiet in Lady Wang's apartments, where she sat in inner chamber shedding tears by herself.
6)不想步入院中,鸦雀无声,一并连两只仙鹤在芭蕉下都睡着了。
To her surprise, his courtyard was utterly quiet, even the two storks were sleeping under the plantain.
7)鸦雀无声,只听得铿锵叮当,金铃玉佩微微摇曳之声,并起跪靴履飒沓之响。
And the only sounds to break the solemn silence were the tinkling of gold bells and jade Pendants, the rustling of silks and the shuffling of boots and slippers as the worshippers rose or knelt down.
