       长城从河北境内称大营盘向东进入北京，经过踞虎关村后一路上升，直至到达制高点黄楼洼(有著名的圆楼、高楼)。黄楼洼是北京长城的最高点，海拔1439.3米。长城经过黄楼洼后，向东北方向下降，至最低点的豁口处下山便是黄楼院(也称黄鹿院、黄龙院、皇楼院)，此处长城海拔1065米。长城从黄楼院豁口向东再次登上高点，过大黑沟，翻过两个大坡后就进入了陈家堡(罗锅城)的范畴了。然后再向北，经石峡关、青水顶、八达岭古长城到著名的八达岭长城。

  一个崖比一个崖断，大黑沟这儿基本上没有了，一个坡度很高的断崖，只能从旁边的山沟攀树而下了，地面基本上是沙，很快的滑沙而下。防护很重要。
