内皮素-1/Endothelin-1（ET-1），也称为前内皮素-1（PPET1），是一种由血管内皮细胞产生的强效血管收缩肽。该基因编码的蛋白质EDN1经过蛋白水解处理，释放内皮素1。内皮素1是人类内皮素的三种异构体之一。

内皮素前体是肽ET-1的前体。内皮细胞将内皮素原转化为内皮素原，随后转化为成熟的内皮素，细胞释放内皮素。

Endothelin (ET)-1 is a potent vasoconstrictor peptide originally isolated from endothelial cells. Its production is stimulated in a variety of different cell types under the influence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and during the development of cardiovascular disease. Based on these observations and the biological effects induced by ET-1, including profound vasoconstriction, pro-inflammatory actions, mitogenic and proliferative effects, stimulation of free radical formation and platelet activation, ET-1 has been implicated as an important factor in the development of vascular dysfunction and cardiovascular disease.
