第 9 章

 

9:1

对所有这一切，我在心里考虑，甚至断言，义人和智者，及他们所为，都在神手中；或是爱，或是恨，他们面前众人，没人知道。

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God：no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.

 

9:2

万事，都一样临到众人；义人和恶人，好人和净人，和不净人，献祭的，和不献祭的，都有一事；好人如何，罪人也如何；起誓的如何，怕起誓的也如何。

All things come alike to all：there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked；to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean；to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not：as is the good, so is the sinner；and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.

 

9:3

日光之下作的一切事中，这是一件坏事，人人都有的：世人的心，充满了恶，活着的时候，心里狂妄，后来就去死了。

This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all：yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

 

9:4

因为与活人相连的他，还有指望；因为活着的狗，比死了的狮子强。

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope：for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

 

9:5

因为活着的人，知道必死。死了的人，一无所知。他门不再有奖赏，因为他们已被遗忘。

For the living know that they shall die：but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward；for the memory of them is forgotten.

 

9:6

另外，他们的爱，他们的恨，他们的嫉妒，现在都消失了，在日光之下作的一切事，他们永远不再有分。

Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished；neither have they any more a portion for ever any thing that is done under the sun.

 

9:7

你只管去，欢欢喜喜吃你的饭，满心快乐喝你的酒；因为神已经接受你的作为。

Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart；for God now accepteth thy works.

 

9:8

让你的衣服时常洁白；让你的头不缺膏油。

Let thy garments be always white；and let thy head lack no ointment.

 

9:9

在你一生虚空的日子，就是日光之下神赐你的日子，同你的爱妻，快活度日；因为那是你一生，在日光之下，劳碌所得的分。

Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity：for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

 

9:10

凡你手当作的事，要尽力去作；因为在你必去的墓中，没有工作，没有谋算，没有知识，也没有智慧。

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might；for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

 

9:11

我回来了，见日光之下，快跑的，未必能嬴，力战的，未必得胜，智慧的，未必得粮，明哲的，未必得财，熟练的，未必得赏识。临到众人的，是时机和运气。

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill；but time and chance happeneth to them all.

 

9:12

因为人也不知他的死期；像鱼，被恶网圈住，像鸟，被网罗捉住，当邪恶时光忽然降临，世人陷在其中，也是如此。

For man also knoweth not his time：as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare；so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

 

9:13

太阳底下，我见过这智慧，对我似乎很棒。

This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me：

 

9:14

有一个小城，城中人口不多，一个大王来攻击它，包围它，对它建起巨大的攻城工事。

There was a little city, and few men within it；and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it：

 

9:15

现在发现，城中，有一个贫穷的智慧人，他用智慧救了那城，却没有人，记得这个穷人。

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city；yet no man remembered that same poor man.

 

9:16

于是我说，智慧胜过勇力，尽管如此，那贫穷人的智慧，被人藐视，他的话，无人听。

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength：nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

 

9:17

悄悄的听，智慧人的言语，胜过统治愚昧人的呼喊。

The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

 

9:18

智慧胜过战争武器；但一个罪人，毁了许多好事。

Wisdom is better than weapons of war：but one sinner destroyeth much good.
