. Teaching Aims

1. Knowledge Aims

(1) The students will be able to listen, read and talk about the passage on Page 20, and try to use the phrasesbe from...,begin(s) from....

(2) The students will be able to understand the adding passage.

(3) The students will be able to get three basic reading skills.

2. Ability Aim

     Guide the students to read short passages with some simple methods.

3. Emotional Aim

     Encourage the students to enjoy reading.

Step 1 Pre-reading

1. Revision

     Review the words of 12 months by reading the vocabulary on P.18.

2. Leading-in

     UseAsking and Answeringto start the lesson.

【设计意图:十二个月份的单词对于中国学生较为难读、难记,有必要进行读和记两方面的复习,为阅读做好铺垫。同时,用问答的方式引出课题也是本节课主要话题。】

Step 2 While-readingPresentation and Practice

1. Talk about the pictures.

    Choose some pictures about seasons to lead the students to enjoy the topic and talk about them.

2. Listen and answer two simple questions. (Listen the first time)

3. Listen, look and repeat. (Listen the second time / read the first time)

    Use the audio to lead the students to listen and catch the main points with eyes closed.

3. Listen, look and repeat again. (Listen the third time / read the second time)

    Let the students open the books, and then lead them to listen, imitate and share their readings.

4. Read and answer four key questions. (Read the third time)

    Let the students read the passage freely and answer the questions. The teacher completes the mind map on the blackboard at the same time.

5. Retell the passage.

    Lead the students to retell the passage according to the mind map.

【设计意图:由于文章内容较短、难度较低,所以整个阅读过程更侧重于兼顾练习听力和口语。通过三听三读,让学生在享受阅读过程的同时,层层拨开阅读迷雾,轻松完成学习任务,同时对阅读的基本方法有一定感知。】

Step 3 Post-reading (Expanding and Consolidation)

1. Talk about the pictures.

    Use the pictures of the accessory section to lead the students to get some information and talk about it.

2. Listen and underline the new words. (Listen the first time)

    Let the students listen to the teacher’s model reading. Then lead the students to guess the new words in the passage.

3. Listen, read and complete Task 1. (Listen the second time / read the first time)

    The teacher and the students read the passage together, and it’s also a kind of listening for the students. 

4. Read and complete Task 2. (Read the second time)

    Let the students read it freely and finish off some more difficult tasks.

5. Discuss. 

The teacher and the students discuss the passage deeply in the process of doing the 3rd exercise.

【设计意图:基于培养学生阅读”-“悦读”-“越会读”-“越多读的初衷,故拓展环节选用了这篇和文本题材相同、话题一致的文章,重在带领学生体验阅读乐趣、积极参与思考、最终总结要领。同时,也企及学生在阅读难度不大、内容易于理解的情况下,感知语言魅力、领略异国文化、提高精神素养。】

Step 4 Ending

1. Summary

(1) Summarize the two passages simply.

(2) Summarize the reading methods.

a. Don’t forget the pictures of the passage. Read them!

b. Don’t be afraid of new words. Guess them!

c. Read it many times. Find the key sentences!

2. Homework

(1) Read the passage on P. 24 and complete the tasks.

(2) Do a simple drawing according to the passage.

【设计意图:本着授学生以,而非授之以的理念,结课前明确呈现三条有效的阅读方法。同时,家庭作业的设计也是对阅读方法的应用和巩固,学以致用!】

  The earth(地球) is so big. China is in the north of the earth. But Australia is in the south of the earth .The seasons in China are different from that in Australia.

  Sydney(悉尼) is a beautiful city of Australia. In Sydney, spring begins from September. Summer is from December to February. Autumn begins from March. And winter is from June to August.

  Sydney is a sea port city. People like to swim in the sea. In Sydney, people cannot see snow in winter. It is interesting. Do you think so?
