今天（20190815）印度独立日和兄妹节碰巧在一天举行。

在兄妹节这一天，姐妹们要在自己的兄弟们手腕上系上叫做“Rakhi”的护身符。而兄弟要承诺保护自己的姐妹，并赠送礼物作为答谢。

兄妹节也是唯一印度独立运动时期的节日。当孟加拉因为宗教原因而即将分离的时候，泰戈尔呼吁印度教徒和穆斯林教徒互相在手腕上系上“Rakhi”以示团结。

t’s a symbolic coincidence that today is both the Indian Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. In Raksha Bandhan sisters tie a talisman, called Rakhi, around the wrist of their brothers. Brothers in return promise to protect their sisters and also give them gift in return.

Raksha Bandhan is the only festival used in India’s struggle for freedom. When order came for division of Bengal based on religious grounds, Rabindranth Tagore urged Hindus and Muslims to tie amulets on each other’s wrists to express solidarity with each other.
