这里不由得联想起《诗经》中另外一首，它的译者是Burton Watson，Burton Watson的译作也很多，其译文是文殊先生选得最多的。请看该诗及其译文（见《诗词英译选》5到6页）：
子衿(jin)
青青子衿，悠悠我心；
纵我不往，子宁不嗣(si)音?
青青子佩，悠悠我心；
纵我不往，子宁不来？
挑兮达兮，在城阙兮；
一日不见，如三月兮。
读者我注：按按《现代汉语词典》，衿Burton Watson：一、同“襟”；二、（书）系衣裳的带子。看来第一意义更适合，如果按第二意义，则“衿”与“佩”就表示同样的意义、指同样的东西了。Burton Watson的译文把“衿”翻译成collar，即理解成“衣领”；他把“佩”译成belt-stone，即理解为佩带上的宝石。我想，无论“衿”或“佩”，都代表“衣服”，可以译成garment (表示“衣服”，尤指“外衣”、“长袍”) ；“佩”表示“佩带”，译成belt（表示“腰带”）。“嗣音”的字面意义是“连接音信”或“继续联系”，Burton Watson译成send word。他的译文如下：
Blue Blue Your Collar

Blue blue your Collar,
Sad sad my heart;
Though I do not go to you,
Why don’t you send word?
Blue blue your belt-stone,
Sad sad my heart;
Though I do not go to you,
Why don’t you come?
Restless, heedless,

译文过于“直译”，“青青”译成Blue blue，“悠悠”译成Sad sad，实不可取，至少中间应该加逗号或连词and: Blue, blue your collar sad, sad my heart. Blue and blue your collar, sad and sad my heart.
