Material: Part B  Let’s learn in Unit 3 My school calendar

Teaching objectives:

Knowledge objective:

1 students can read and write the new words correctly.

2 students get to know some festivals how to say in English.

3 students can use the sentences “When is …?” “It’s in ….” to ask the specific date of the festivals.

4 students could understand the meaning and usage of “will”.

Ability objective:

1 After class, the students could use the sentences “When is …? “It’s in ….” to ask and answer the date of the festivals in daily life.

2 the students could express the date of festivals in little composition.

Teaching contents:

Focuses point:

1 read, write and spell the new words : July, August, September, October, November, December

2 use the sentences “When is …?” and “ It’s in …” to ask and answer the date of festivals.

3 read and write the English names of some festivals.

Difficult point:

use the sentences “When is …?” and “It’s in ….” to make a dialogue correctly.

Teaching aids :

A multi-media computer; blackboard; chalk.

Teaching procedures:

1 Review :

1.1   teacher make students enjoy the music and relax themselves , and students could review what they have learn last class ,then teacher play the record of the song, and teacher ask the whole class to sing after the music.

1.2   teacher show the picture of Easter, Tree planting Day, New Year’s Day, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day and winter vacation ,then ask students “When is Easter?” and show the answers after students answer the questions.

2 Lead in : after listening to the song , teacher ask students “ How many months in a year?”, then students answer “12.” Teacher say “ So today we will learn how to read and write the rest of months.

3 Presentation:

3.1 teacher show the picture of summer vacation, China’s National Day, American Thanksgiving Day, Teacher’s Day, Mid- autumn Day and Christmas

3.2 and ask “ What festival is it?”, show the English name of it after students say the Chinese name of it, then ask the whole class read after teacher.

3.3 teacher ask the whole class “ When is …?” ,then give the answers after the students answer the questions in Chinese.

3.4 teacher ask students read after teacher.

4 Practice :

4.1 Read loudly: ask students read the new words. ( make students pay attention to the abbreviations of September and the abbreviation mark.)

4.2 Catch the plane: ask the students to read out words what they have seen.

4.3连线:ask students to match the words of months and festivals.

4.4 Pair work : ask some students to choose the number ,then teacher show the picture to him or her , make he or she to invite his or her partner to make a dialogue use the sentences “ When is …?” “ It’s in ….”.

4.5 Finish the exercise of the text book page 28 “ Ask and write”.
