第四节 含有情态动词或半情态动词的there be句式

There + 情态动词 + be + 主语 + …    

will, would, must, may, might, can, could, need, 

be likely to, be certain to, be sure to, be about to, seem to be, appear to be, used to, have to, be supposed to, ought to, 

be going to, be to, had better, be bound to, 

     1. There is something wrong with it.  

     2. There might be something wrong with it.

     3. There may be something wrong with it.

     4. There could be as many as six hundred thousand sheep fed within six miles of Salisbury.

He felt that there must be something wrong with the car. 他当时感觉车肯定出毛病了。

There must be some mistakes. 

There must be something wrong.一定有问题。

If there is to be revolution, there must be a revolutionary party.

There must be changes in the law quickly to stop this sort of thing ever happening to anyone else.

may / might 

  There may be another demonstration tonight. 今晚也许又有一场示威。 

He has been given to believe that there may be a future for him and Maria together.

There may be certain times of day when smokers crave their cigarette.

   There can’t have been much traffic so late at night．这么晚了，街上的车辆不会太多。

If the power hadn't been cut off so quickly, there could have been a big fire. 
要不是迅速切断电源,可能会引发一场大火. 

 

 

There may / might / can / could / is likely to be … 也许 / 可能 有……

  There are likely to be more difficulties than they have been prepared for.

There might be some good songs after all this trash. 在播放了这些乱七八糟的歌曲之后,可能会放几首好歌. 

 

There must / has to / is certain to / is sure to be / is bound to be … 一定/ 必须 / 确信 / 必定有……

  There is certain to be something wrong with the engine.    发动机一定是出了毛病。

 = It is certain that there is something wrong with the engine.

There has to be a rest after so long a walk.

  There must be something wrong with the machine, for it doesn’t run well.

There is sure to be a restaurant somewhere. 某处肯定有个饭店. 

There will / is going to / is to / is about to be… 将要 / 打算 / 计划 / 马上 有……

 There will be rain soon. 

Is there going to be a dancing party tonight？今晚有舞会吗？

There is to be a concert at the Albert Hall tonight. It is to be broadcast live. 

There is about to be a fight between the two countries. 两国之间就要有一场战争。

There is to be a strike against the low welfare.

 

There should / ought to / be supposed to / be bound to be … 应该有……

There ought not to be so many people.不应该有这么多的人。

There oughtn’t to be too great a difference in our views. 

There should be hope for this. 

  There oughtn’t to be too great discrepancy in our views．我们的看法不应该有太大的分歧。

There ought to be something with which to fill your stocking.

There are bound to be obstacles for us to get over．一定会有障碍需要我们去克服。  

 

There used to / seems to / appears to / happened to be … 过去曾 / 似乎 / 看来 / 碰巧 有……
